This will last until a new partner joins the practice or for 12 months

The Rainbow surgery is looking for ONE OR MORE salaried doctors with view to partnership for 4-8 sessions per week (0.5 to 1 WTE), flexible. Join our award winning team-BMJ Primary Care Team 2011. GP mag Enterprise award overall national winners 2014

This post may suit established GPs looking to regain some of the joys of General Practice or to take on new roles, as well as newly qualified VTS registrars. No property ownership issues. We can take on between one and 3 doctors all at once, so if you want to start off with like-minded colleagues and friends, we might be able to accommodate that too. Plenty of opportunities for old style general practice, as well as new style portfolio careers. Come and see appointment books that are not bursting, and realise that demand is NOT infinite! Come and hear the laughter in the reception area or from the nurses rooms, or the managers room! Come and see all the cakes and biscuits and thank you cards.

Our small practice (approx. 4550 patients) works from purpose built premises with an attached day centre, and has recently acquired extra clinical rooms. We have been in the top 1% nationally for patient satisfaction, and have excellent appointment and phone access, so we really can do today’s work today. Surgeries are rarely overbooked. Look at the feedback and scores on or the IPSOS MORI survey report on our website. We have all the usual teams and facilities you could expect from modern general practice, including great support and admin and nursing teams BUT also have

  • Community echo and sleep apnoea clinics, and aortic aneurysm screening
  • In house digital retinal photography service for diabetes
  • A community ultrasound service
  • Host monthly stroke, Alzheimer’s, cancer and Parkinsons group meetings, and armchair exercise classes for frail elderly
  • Have a very active patient group
  • Recent county wide 2nd place “carers award”
  • an award winning alcohol support service, staffed by recovered alcoholics, now spread through the whole Hunts area. ( [but imminently being axed, due to cuts in CCG]

Our working week can be flexible and means we never need to miss family events or crises, and can take on extra work for professional development and innovation. Over recent years, the partners have been mental health, ENT, diabetes, alcohol, Medicines Management team and Gynae leads. We have also been at the leading edge of IT and have been EMIS Web for over 4 years.

Our replacement partner may wish to take on GP and medical student training in our newly expanded premises, and /or other professional roles, as well as assisting in managing the practice strategically. Family planning experience and expertise would be an advantage but not essential.

Despite cuts in PMS funding, we have managed to maintain earnings at earlier levels.

6 weeks leave with good flexibility when to take these, including school holidays

We have full QOF points, and can deliver most LCG requirements.

We dispense to half our patients. PMS for many years. Early adopters of change.

Above average income- whatever the new contract might throw at us.

Optional OOH in local Huntingdon based Urgent Care Cambridge

Have a good idea and put it into practice quickly.

Affordable quality housing.

Huntingdon 20 minutes,  Peterborough 30 minutes, Cambridge 40 minutes.

Do have a look at our website ( and if you want to know more, contact Drs Arun or Rita Aggarwal, or Mrs Jennie Sparkes (Practice Manager) on 01487 811215 (work) or 01487 710668 (Drs Aggarwal-home). Come and have a look. Start date flexible.
