We have been looking at how we can improve access to Practice services; DoctorLink is our new online service where you can access advice and appointments on line.

For all urgent appointment, we ask that you undertake a symptom assessment through DoctorLink
The symptom checker will ask you a number of questions to help to identify your problem.
The outcome of your assessment will direct you to the right treatment, whether emergency care, your GP, nurse or self care.
If your outcome indicates that an appointment is required, you simply click on the request appointment link.
Once the request has been submitted, you will then be contacted by the Practice Team, to arrange an appointment within the identified timeframe (as outlined in the outcome of your symptom checker).
The information you provide will be shared with our clinical team (where appropriate) and will assist in providing robust information of your problem to the required clinical team member prior to your appointment.

We offer a range of appointments, some are pre-bookable and some will be made available on the day for urgent needs. Telephone consultations are also available.
You can expect to be asked the nature of the problem by the Reception staff so as this information can be passed to the clinician or they can help direct you to the most appropriate clinician or service.
You may also have a telephone triage consultation by the Duty GP if there are no bookable appointments available on the day.
Chaperones are available at the doctor’s or patient’s request. It is helpful if we can arrange this beforehand. If one is requested during the appointment we will provide a chaperone but you may have to wait for one to become available.
If you arrive later than your booked appointment time you may not be able to be seen.
If you cannot keep your appointment, please ring us as soon as possible so we can offer it to someone else.
Extended Hours Access
From 1st October 2018 a range of routine pre-bookable appointments will be available in addition to FGP standard opening hours. If you wish to book one of these please be aware that the sessions will be held at different Surgeries throughout Cambridge and you will need to be able to travel there.
You can make an appointment at any of the sites - not just the one nearest to your home. Please note the staff you will be seen by Extended Access appointments are not FGP staff.

We will aim to offer appointments within 24 hours with a healthcare professional or within 48 hours with a healthcare professional of your choice.
Nurses based at our practice treat patients for a wide range of common conditions (e.g. minor injuries/illnesses, removing stitches, travel vaccinations, immunisations and so on). Our practice nurses are also specially trained to run routine clinics for certain conditions, such as diabetes and heart disease. (Each of our nurses specialises in a different area, so you need to book ahead with the most appropriate person). Our reception staff will be able to advise whether a nurse appointment is appropriate.
Healthcare assistants carry out, blood testing, INR blood monitoring, hearing tests, blood pressure checks, weight checks, ECGs and sleep apnoea monitoring, spirometry, B12 injections and chaperoning.
ANNUAL WELLBEING REVIEWS
You will now be invited for your yearly annual wellbeing reviews in your month of birth. The review will be different for each patient depending on what pre-existing conditions are present and it may require more than one appointment.
These conditions are as follows:

In the future we will no longer be sending letters.
We may need to do blood tests at this appointment.
It is important to attend your review appointment so we can ensure your condition is properly controlled and managed. If you run out of your repeat medication and have not had a review, we will not be able to re-authorise your repeat medication.
Nursing Care At Home
Patients who are confined to their homes and need nursing assistance may arrange with the doctor for a community nurse to call. They will be able to help assess your needs and give information and support. Practical nursing care may include injections, blood tests, dressings and help for patients with incontinence.
